Josie Vosoba

Josie has always loved to travel.  First as a tour guide, then for the company she founded importing lavender from France.   After 20 years of this business, and 15 years of organizing annual tours to Provence, she sold the lavender business to pursue an artistic career.  She now organizes several workshops a year to France and beyond for painters where she can use her skills and also gain new insight with guest artists and enjoy the company of like-minded people.

She studied at the Art League in Alexandria and completed a Master Artist Program at the Compass Atelier to learn the basics. Josie was chosen as a copyist at the National Gallery of Art, has had a successful solo show in D.C., several group shows in D.C., MD and VA, has sold artwork to a government agency and specializes in plein-air landscape oil painting with a painterly representational style.

She continues to loves to travel, and finds that painting satisfies her desire to express the feelings captured on the journey and in nature with a quick, immediate and emotional response on the canvas.  Most of her works are small so they can be completed on the road, from life and in the moment of discovery.
