Mark Zimmerman

Mark Zimmerman is a woodturner who uses a lathe to create platters, natural-edged and traditional bowls, and lidded boxes from hardwoods like ash, cherry, and walnut. He often embellishes his pieces with colored dyes, acrylic paints, and wood burnings.

“With each new log or piece of wood, I begin to unlock the unique grain patterns and features of the bowl or platter that I’m turning. You never know what you’ll find.”

Mark is past-president of Apple Valley Woodturners and a member of the American Association of Woodturners and the Shenandoah Arts Council. He recently won a second place prize for his "Earth Bowl," a carved and painted poplar platter, in the Shenandoah Arts Council "Solstice" Exhibition at the Barns of Rose Hill in Berryville, Virginia.

Mark sells his work primarily through custom orders; he can be reached at Art of the WoodZ, 540-247-8721, or by emailing mbzimmerman@comcast.net.
