Michelle Venable

Michelle Venable is an artist and an educator from New Market, Maryland. She has a degree in studio arts from Hood College. Michelle is currently working on a series of watercolor batik paintings inspired by her garden and the honeybees that she raises with her husband. Michelle hopes to make the viewer aware of not only the importance of honeybees and other pollinators, but also the relationship between pollinators and people and how they depend on each other. Michelle even uses the wax from their bee hives to create her batik paintings on rice paper. Michelle's other works are often inspired by the landscape around her and her love of folkart. Many of her acrylic paintings are done in a primitive folkart style and include historical building and lighthouses.
