Lily Huber

Lily Huber is an award-winning realist artist specializing in animal portraiture. Lily holds a Bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College and a Master’s degree from Columbia University, in addition to being trained at the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore, MD. There she studied the techniques of the Dutch and Flemish Masters.

Spurred by a lifelong love of animals, Lily combines delicate rendering with the chiaroscuro painting method to pay homage to wild and domestic creatures. The result is vibrant animal portraits rich with emotion and character. Drawing on the techniques of 19th-century Animaliers, including Edwin Landseer, Charles Jacque, and Frans Snyders, Lily adapts traditional elements of the genre to explore contemporary issues of habitat loss, conservation, and biodiversity. Her works are featured in numerous private and public art collections nationwide.
