Design, order and beauty have always been at the core of the way I see the world. My evolution
as an artist has been long. I was not surrounded by creative people and was born into a working
family with no extras. Creative people were not abundant in my world. Elementary school art
was my first exposure to a world of self-expression.
Learning to focus on my creative side was always pushed aside to deal with the mundane. As I
prepared to start college the desire was great to see where this desire would lead. I pursued a
degree in Graphic Arts as the need for design and order were prevalent. Fine arts, the gateway
into self-expression, were difficult.
Real life turned into raising a family and the arts were put aside. As the family became self sufficient,
I launched into more education with a focus of Interior Design, architectural drawing
and computer design. That need for order was still prevalent in my artistic endeavors, but
freedom of expression blossomed through difficulty.
Today my work is impressionistic and loose. I have finally given myself permission for freedom
of expression though my art and in my everyday life. I work mostly in pastels with large colorful
strokes. A rhythm of order and design are still very prevalent. My goals are to continue self expression
as I work with canvas, paper, and many different surfaces and techniques.
I am a sponge learning from fellow artists in any medium and no subject is off limits. I thrive in
accomplishing new techniques and mediums and challenge myself daily in portraiture,
landscapes, florals and architecture. Involving myself in art clubs, art societies and professional
lessons are helping me develop my own style and going deeper with fellow artists.
