I love a balance of real and imagined, modern and classic...

I am driven by the quest to evoke a sense of nostalgia in viewers, enabling them to weave their own tales. Each piece I create serves as a unique canvas that resonates differently with each individual, stirring cherished memories of love, friendship, appreciation, and romance. I believe it's crucial for them to perceive my paintings through their own lens, enveloped in their thoughts, and to tell their own captivating stories.
I was fortunate to be born in Vicenza, Italy, a place where art is interwoven into everyday life. From the timeless architectural wonders of Andrea Palladio to the vibrant reds gracing Titian's masterpieces in nearby Venice, and the breathtaking churches adorned with frescoes and splendid stained glass windows that we attended, art was an intrinsic part of my upbringing.
Around 15 years ago, a friend encouraged me to embark on a painting journey, an unexpected turn from my role as a Montessori teacher. I designed a distinctive art curriculum for my students, rooted in Montessori principles, introducing them to the enchanting worlds of Van Gogh and Monet. This delightful experience prompted me to dabble in an art class myself.
The moment I began, I was captivated. I had the privilege of learning from an incredible teacher who dispelled the fear surrounding painting. Her classes centered on the "macchiaioli" style (Italian Impressionist), where there were no mistakes, only beautiful discoveries. Armed with two big brushes, a plethora of gooey paint, and her innovative techniques, we embarked on a creative journey. We painted from photos, indoors, outdoors, and even upside down. Mistakes were embraced, and we were free to fix them. This period not only honed my skills but also introduced me to a wonderful group of fellow artists, with whom I shared this transformative experience over the next few years.
For me, painting is a sanctuary, especially when I'm immersed in the beauty of florals. My walls bloom with vibrant flowers, an indoor garden that brings me serenity without allergies! I love Maine Coon kitties, peonies, giant roses, saucer plate dahlias, big hair... I like fluff, the fluffiest fluff you can imagine. As an artist, I hold a special place in my heart for the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. Their ability to seize the fleeting moment, infusing color, movement, and grace, resonates deeply with me. I am forever drawn to their spontaneity, a quality I seek to capture in my own work.
