Danuta Moon

Danuta’s first love is art, but her first career was international diplomacy.

This career and the countries she lived in exposed her to different creative approaches and shaped her journey as an artist.

In Bosnia, she fell in love with oil painting. In Germany, she embarked on an adventure with watercolors. Her time abroad gave her a unique perspective—and priceless practice in keeping an open mind.

Back in the U.S., she was able to devote her time and energy to her art. She joined the Northern Virginia Plein Air Artists and trained her eye for the ever-changing light in the beautiful outdoors. She promoted art education in local schools as a volunteer for a gallery’s outreach program. She completed a two-year Smithsonian Art History course run in cooperation with the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design.

She paints representationally leaving the viewer some room for imagination. She enjoys playing with lights and shadows both in the studio and outdoors. Her inspiration is both traditional and modern impressionistic style with loose brush strokes and vivid colors.

She is happiest when her paintings feel alive. And her hope is viewers feel the same energy—the same vitality—in every work.
