Mr. Symonds is a Contemporary Realist. He has been painting Seascapes, Wildlife, Urban Scenes and Rural Landscapes for 45 years up and down the east coast.

Between 1977 and 1979 he attended Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner, MA and received an Associate in Science degree in Painting before moving on to complete his BFA in Fine Arts at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston in 1982, major Painting.

He has studied under several painters including George Nick of (Concord, MA), Jeremy Foss of (Maine), Jean Cauthen of (Gardner, MA) and William Gruters of (Gardner, MA)

He composes and paints natural and manmade objects and works on capturing how natural light affects his subject matter while always painting on location and occasionally in his studio on larger canvases.

Mr. Symonds currently exhibits at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary

Gallery in Boston MA, The Mountain Laurel Gallery in Berkeley Springs, WV, The Crestwood Women’s Hospital Gallery (FMH) the Burwood-Morgan Mill in Clarke County, Va for the past several years, the Firehouse Gallery in Berryville, VA, The Old Opera House Gallery in Charles Town, WV as well as at the Spring Bluemont, Va Art Show. He has also shown previously in New England at the Concord Art Museum and the Fitchburg Art Museum, where his work received honorable mention in their regional artist exhibition.
