Liz Pohland is a Virginia-based watercolor artist who is passionate about water and experimenting with new watercolor techniques. She finds watercolor to be an exciting medium—unpredictable but fascinating—both bold/electric and delicate/transparent. While most watercolorists begin a painting with pencil sketches, Liz often draws with her paint, relying on her instincts and feelings about the subject. She enjoys using nontraditional approaches and materials in her paintings. Liz’s watercolors often reflect everyday items in her surroundings, her travels, and her interest in nature, especially water.
