Gail Lynne Gramprie

After graduating from College with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Art, she joined the U.S. Navy. A military career provided her with the opportunity to visit museums and galleries throughout the world. And these travels helped to form her eye for art.

Upon retiring to Maryland in 1991, she learned the art of kiln-formed fused glass. Working with fused glass offered a wider range of creative opportunities to make two and three dimensional art.

Upon moving from Maryland to Virginia, she started painting again with the help of classes taken through Opus Oaks. She also became a member of the Blandy Sketch Group and the Outdoor Painters of the Shenandoah as a creative outlet and as an opportunity to get out of the studio and focus on nature. While renewing her drawing and painting skills is satisfying, it also strengthens her creativity and skills with glass.

In 2011, she began teaching fused glass at Opus Oaks. While she enjoys the experience of learning from her fused glass students, she also hopes to expand her ability as a painter through classes and participation in the Blandy Sketch Group.
