From his earliest days, the artist has had a passion for drawing and art. During his professional career and in retirement, he has continued his growth as an artist. He enjoys both plein air and studio painting in oils and acrylic. He has been a member of the NOVA Plein Air group, The League of Reston Artists and has participated in the Lynchburg Art Club’s “Paint Out” event. He has won various awards and recognition for his work. Although landscapes predominate his work, he enjoys painting cityscapes, seascapes, still life, and portraits. He doesn’t limit himself to certain styles or subjects, preferring to continue to challenge himself and experiment with various approaches and subject matter. His strongest attraction in choosing a subject is the play of light and shadow which best describes form.
Artist’s Statement:
"My goal as an artist is to use light and shadow to depict the beauty of nature and life from the grandest subjects to the most mundane, for there is beauty in all. My hope is to instill in others the ability to see the world as an artist does, reveling in the amazing variety of color, light, form, and beauty in everything around us."
