Michael Potashnik is a Fine Artist currently residing in Virginia. He began his art studies some ten years ago at the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia. His studies over the years have included classes and workshops in basic figure and gesture drawing, watercolor, and workshops in plein air painting Michael also regularly attended the Open Studio for figure drawing offered by the McLean Project for the Arts.

Michael is primarily a landscape painter, and follows the school of realism and naturalism. His subject matter includes national and international rural and urban landscape and people in their natural habitats and social mileus. He is both a plein air and studio painter. He also recently began paintings modern abstracts in acrylics.

Michael is a Signature Member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, an Associate Member of the National Watercolor Society, and a member of the Art League, the Arlington Artist Alliance, McLean Art Society, Loudoun Sketch Club, Baltimore Watercolor Society, and other professional art organizations. His paintings have been juried into numerous shows and are regularly exhibited at the Gallery Underground and the Hermitage Gallery.

Michal supports the arts as a member of the Met in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the Phillips Gallery in Washington, DC
