Lynn Cothern

Lynn Cothern has a B.A. in fine arts with an emphasis in painting and drawing. She works in oil—both plein air and in the studio—but also enjoys water media, especially watercolor and gouache. She makes sketchbooks and keeps a variety on hand for color exercises, travel sketching, notans, and thumbnails. She is a member of Southwest Virginia Plein Air Painters Association and has studied painting and bookbinding at the Corcoran School of Art, Pyramid Atlantic, Penland, Paper and Book Intensive, and the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia. She lives in Roanoke, Virginia, with her standard poodle Olive, who enjoys chasing rabbits more than watching her paint.
