Pastel artist living in Harpers Ferry WV. Martha has developed a practice in landscape painting and drawing since her retirement in 2017. Her work reflects her love of the outdoors and is often built on plein air sketches and color studies. She increasingly is finishing paintings en plein air in addition to her studio pieces. She moved to the lower end of the Shenandoah Valley 20-plus years ago after growing up in Arlington VA and working in Washington DC. She has spent a lot of time in the Blue Ridge and Ridge and Valley provinces, where she finds most of her painting and drawing subjects. .
